Premier League side promotes UNICEF at next match

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Premier League match against Aston Villa on 2 April will include activities to promote its charity partner UNICEF.

At the match fans will be encouraged to donate to the UN children’s organisation via a QR code.

They will also be shown a video at half time of the agency’s work supporting children’s education, health, nutrition and ensuring they are protected from harm.

In addition, players at the matches will wear special warm up t-shirts dedicated to UNICEF’s message of ‘for every child’.

Similar activity has already taken place for the previous women’s home match, against Manchester City over the weekend.

The club’s partnership with UNICEF launched last year. Both will be creating a toolkit to improve practices in sports coaching for children through the link up.

“We’re hugely grateful to Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club for letting us takeover two of their matches to bring our partnership to life,” said UNICEF UK chief partnerships officer Mohini Raichura-Brown.

“Fans attending the matches will have a unique opportunity to support UNICEF in its mission to transform the lives of the world’s most vulnerable children.

“With global crises like conflict, disease and climate change increasingly endangering the lives of children worldwide, the need has never been greater.”

The club’s chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber added: “We’re incredibly proud of our partnership with UNICEF and the difference it is making to children and their families around the world.

“It’s a real privilege to be supporting an organization that we share so many core values with and we hope that our fans will join us and show their support for UNICEF too, in whatever way they can.”
